Construction complete

Well the offical construction is complete now. Now it is just getting everything into the rooms and adding the finishing touches. Which may take forever, but we are not in a super hurry. First priroirty is actually putting things in the rooms they belong in. Making this all the more messy, we have moved Ethan into the downstairs family room so he can be closer to us and go to bed easier. It is also a larger space so more of his toys fit in the room instead of being all over the living room. Not that toys still are not scattered about, but it is an attempt at least. Ethan particularly loves having the sofa in his room. And since it opens into a twin bed, for now, he is ready for sleep overs. So if any grandparents want to be talked to sleep Ethan is ready.

Ethan is really growing up. We had gotten him a couple goldfish. But, as it turns out the store was selling us fish with a fungus, so they all died. But, after the last one kicked it - we were able to get Ethan excited about getting a small pet. Before he just wanted the cage not an animal. So now, we have a gerbil, he is just a baby still and really calm for a gerbil. It sure seems that any pet Ethan picks out works get for a little kid. He even named it! For those who don't know Ethan usually does NOT name animals, stuffed or otherwise. So his gerbil is named Roger. When we asked he answered "Roger" like he had been thinking about its name the entire way home. He just knew. Mom and Dad are thrilled too. Mainly because we get to buy all those cool tubes and such we did not get as kids. And Mom likes pets of all sizes. For Dad this is a first rodent pet ever. But, both he and Ethan and doing great and love the little guy. Ethan has not been able to hold him too much. He thinks that nails tickle and just cannot sit still. But, the first few days Roger was on the kitchen table (which we have not used much since the addition started) Ethan would eat every meal at the table right next to Roger. It was the quietest meals ever, and Ethan would eat just about anything you put on his plate. Roger now lives in the new "office" which is Ethan's old bedroom. Roger sits on a dresser since the dog and cats have taken an interest in him. And we are fairly sure Diego is the one that knocked the cage over once already. Luckily no one was hurt and Roger was easily caught since he ran right under the couch and stayed there.

Okay, back to the addition. I think all the rooms turned out great. Even the paint colors all worked out so there will be no repainted needed!

The mudroom

The formal dining room.

And, the hobby room. Where the beam in across the room is where the old room used to end.

And finally, here are a few more Ethan picture. One is of his great hat hair he had after school one day. And the other, which is out of focus, because Dad had the camera on Manual focus and did not realize it, is of Ethan sitting on Diego. What is weird is that Diego was sitting there like nothing was going on. Even with Ethan being a wiggly boy.
